James Wayne Stout 1945 ~ 2010 James W. Stout left this life on August 30, 2010 and returned to his Heavenly Father.He was born in 1945 in American Falls, Idaho, to Wayne Stout and Jean Lorraine Halling Stout. He attended Pocatello High, Idaho State University, and Brigham Young University and married his sweetheart Karen Jean Mattson in Logan, Utah on July 1, 1971. Jim completed his Doctorate of Optometry degree at Pacific University. He spent 20 years in service to our country in the Army Medical Service Corps in various locations worldwide. Upon retirement from the Army, he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah and later to Saratoga Springs, Utah. At the time of his passing he was employed by the Army Department of Defense as an Optometry Consultant for the Vision Safety Program. As an active member of the LDS church he served as a missionary in New Zealand. He has since served in several leadership and teaching positions, often involved with the Youth Program. His hobbies included: reading, history, woodworking, genealogy, airplanes and photography. He is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Keri; Kristin (Todd) Remund; Richard (Becky); Steven (Emily); Michael (Darla); Brian; David (Claudine); Andrew; 18 grandchildren; sisters, Marcia (Sid) Hedges; Jeanne Harrison. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 at 1 p.m. at the Harvest Hills 11th Ward Bldg at 2256 N. Providence Dr. (450 W.), Saratoga Springs, followed by Interment at the Lehi City Cemetery. A public viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel at 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (106th S.), South Jordan, Utah on Thursday, Sept. 2nd from 6-8 p.m. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com
