OK OK

OK so we.... I say we but really it was all me, decided on the day and the plans. I guess I should go back a little. Carson proposed on Mothers Day with a beautiful Peridot (Irie's birthstone) ring. However that ring was about 3 sizes to small, so we returned it. They didn't have anything that fit that I liked so I picked out a $8 fake I liked and said we would put the money away and save up and find another one that we liked.

So then I started kicking around wedding ideas in my head, and I knew that I wanted to go away somewhere. We had been talking about Vegas for a year or so, so that was our first thought. But still looking at other options, a Cruise, a Disney wedding, and so on. But the more I thought about it the more I like the thought of the Disney wedding. So I called Disneyland to find out what they offered. And I found out that the smallest wedding they offer is $5000. That includes all the flowers and decorations. A max of 26 people. A 3 course dinner, and 3 tier cake (which to me makes no since. What the do you need a 3 tier cake if it is only 26 people).

I felt like I needed to have something here in Portland for all the family and friend, a reception or open house or something. But at the same time... No offense... But i really didn't want to. That is a lot of money for something that I didn't really want to do. Besides I couldn't figure out how to tactfully say "We have basically been married for 2 years now and we don't need anymore crap. So just give us your money." That is just tacky, not to mention just plain rude.

But I really liked the idea of a Disney wedding. However I wasn't about to spend that kind of money. I also was NOT going to spend an outrageous amount of money on a dress that I was only going to wear once. Then I started kicking around the idea of going to Disney for the wedding but getting married at the court house down there. I really liked that idea. But if we were going to do Disney it wasn't going to be until the spring so Irie would be a little bigger. Then I thought well if I was going to get married in the court house anyway why not just do it here, and keep our current anniversary? Another idea we liked, keeping our current anniversary. That is how I came to decide on November 16, which is a Tuesday.

So we are going to the court house on the 16 of Nov, and then spending all that money that would have been spent on a dress, food and all that other stuff that goes along with a wedding, and spending it on Disneyland. I think there will be less stress and way more fun.

Other then that things are pretty uneventful. We are looking for a new place to live, but not an apartment. And finding any place that will take Shotgun (90 lb. Black Lab) is NOT easy. I suggested to Carson the other day that we go to the bank and find out about a home loan. Looking in to what they would be willing to give us because you never know until you try, so that may also be in our future.

Todd to answer your question yes I can make more of the name boards, but I don't know how much it will cost, but I don't think it will be that much. How many do you need? Whom to you want them for? Do you want the board white black or natural? (If i remember correctly yours and Ron's are both Black. Wayne and Jo's are white and my moms is natural. I can take a picture of moms if you would like, and I will have Wayne or Jo *HINT HINT* post a pic of theirs.) They don't take that much to do and I would be happy to make some more for you. The vinyl and the shipping is where the expense come in. However my mom has a machine that can cut the vinyl we just haven't tried it yet. So I don't know if it is cheaper/easier to do it our selves or have a friend that has a vinyl cutter do it.

  1. Okay...I don't get it...Am I invited or not??? HUH?

Actually, I think you are very smart doing it the way you are. I can't see putting as much $$$ into weddings as people do these days. Much wiser to invest it in yourselves and have some fun.

So, just a small 13x9 cake and a few of your favorites relatives??? HUH???

  2. Of course you are invited. But only if Robert and Michael will make me a small bouquet of flowers for the court house. If I am not going to have a dress I should at least have some flowers... Right? Just kidding you would still be invited even with out the flowers. And No cake. I make cakes but I don't really like cake, and neither does Carson. But probably a cheese cake.

  5. Melia: Jennifer Davis said tonight she would do your make up that day if your like.

Ron and Todd: What Melia hasn't said is that anyone can come to Disneyland with us as well. You just have to pay your own way. Come on! It'll be a blast!

  6. I hadn't said that anyone is invited to Disney because I thought mom had already said that. But yes Ron, Todd, Wayne, Gwenn, and whom ever else would like to go are invited, I'm just not paying for you. I am so excited to take Irie to Disney.

  7. Sounds like fun to me if I could lose about 100 lbs. Don't know whether Wayne would like it or not. :) Wouldn't it be more fun to go on a cruise??????
