Jakes Disney Birthday Trip

So as some of you may know my gift to jake for his 7th birthday before his mom packs him up and moves him further north to Bellingham WA which is right near the Canada border was a fun filled week long trip to Souther California and 3 full days at the disney theme parks. We arrived last monday about around noon at long beach airport where a buddy of mine picked us up and took us to huntington beach and newport beach jake had a lot of fun playin in the water. Tues-thurs was the real fun bouncing back and forth from california adventures to disneyland. wed the park hit a 102 degrees which kept the lines down and in the course of 13 hours jake and i hit 21 rides. His official favorite ride is the haunted mansion. Mine of course is still pirates of the caribbean. we were both pretty bummed that we had to return to WA friday night :( but it was a fun fill trip none the less as I myself havent been to disneyland since I was 5.

Wes & Elna's 70th Anniversary

Robert and I went to Logan this past weekend for Wes & Elna's 70th Anniversary party.  It was a really great party (a picnic in the park) and we got to see a lot of family that I hadn't seen in years.  I wish I had taken a picture of Leanne...You wouldn't even recognize her (I sure didn't!)  Anyway, it was wonderful weather and a great party...Here are a few pictures...

Happy Birthday Irie Samantha

It's had to believe that Irie is already 2. It seems like just the other day when we were waiting patiently at the hospital for things to happen and now 2 years old she is a rather independent, strong willed little girl. Her accomplishments for a 2 year old out weigh many of those around her. She talks a mile a minute and generally, we can understand what it is she is saying often startling us with her outbursts. On Monday, she wasn't feeling good, hadn't really eatten for a couple of days, was running a fever off and on, had some sores in her mouth, (that kind of thing) and after a trip to the doctor, Melia, Joann, Irie and myself made a lunch trip to the local Mike's Drive-in as Nana thought a milkshake might just do the trick. She took one taste and decided that wasn't what she wanted. The answer was no to the corn dog as well. No, water didn't do the trick either, but there was something about Nana's Diet Coke, that was addictive. She took a death grip on the cup and held the straw close to her lips as she drank. Melia succeeded in getting it away once, but not for long. Again with death grip, Irie continued to sip. At, one point she glanced across the table and noticed her mother's disapproving eyes on her. Suddenly, without warning, the outburst "NO mama, LEAVE ME ALONE. That was only the beginning. She continued her sipping and so Melia decided that maybe she could do a switch for a Sprite (luckily she wised up and got Root Beer, you know same color as Diet Coke). As Melia walked away from the she made the statement "You don't need the caffeine" and continued to walk away. Yes, you guessed it, Irie had to have the last word. Her response "I do need the caffeine!". Now tell me how does one not laugh at that. Oh, the joys of being the Nana. Happy birthday my darling, sweet, lovable Irie. Your Nana loves you more than you know!

Excuses Excuses

My mom's excuse for being late today:

Just when you think you have heard all the possible excuses for not being to work on time or really not sure when you will be in. No, it’s not that my 7th great grandmother removed 6 times has passed and no, My dog is not having an emergency appendectomy, BUT BELIEVE IT OR NOT…………………………….a horse has take up residency in my backyard. Yes, girls, you read that right. There is a horse residing in my backyard. I’ve attached a photo as proof. He is very friendly. Bruce went out to go to work and he was just strolling by the house. Good thing I live on a half acre. To bad, Bruce just mowed the lawn.

Okay, it has now been a hour since I wrote the original email and my system locked up, so I have moved to Yahoo and am sending from there. Here is the update. Because the horse is corralled, the sheriff's department will not come out. Call Vector and Brand. Called them. He will be out in 2 - 3 hours to check for a brand ( I already know there is not a visable one) and write a report. In the meantime, it has been suggested I make signs to put out indicating I have found a horse. Because..............SOMEONE HAS LOST A HORSE. I wanted to say "NO SHIT SHERLOCK" Guess what I found him and he is in my BACKYARD where I am having a birthday party for a 2 yr old on Saturday.

Oh wait................maybe I should go our and buy a saddle. We could have horsey rides!

I will be on the system shortly (after I make my and post my signs) and will keep you updated on my progress.

Did I mention, that I also petted the horse and now my allergies have kicked in. I don't know what is worse, the itchy scratchy throat or the itchy watery eyes! OIY.

Just wanna throw out a happy 7th birthday to my not so baby boy Jacob Ashton Goodsell i cant believe its been 7 years already! Love you buddy!

Happy Birthday, Dad

It's hard to believe it's already the 12th of August which means it's Dad's 86th birthday. Hope he and Mom are having a grand celebration. Happy Birthday Dad!
